Let’s make a trip to the world of energy – energy day in a Swedish kindergarten

In May we spent two days in a Swedish kindergarten to talk about the topic energy. The kindergarten is not far from Oskarshamn, deep in the forest on the Swedish countryside. As we smelled the country air we knew we were right. There the kids have a close contact to the nature and to the animals. They learn to take care of them- in my opinion a really good concept.

At the first day we came in touch with the kids and the teachers. They showed us the surrounding area, we played “hide and seek” and other things.

The mission of our stay in the kindergarten was to talk about energy. Our aim was to give a complete overview about this topic, not only from the technical side.

We thought it is easier to let pictures speak. Therefore, we prepared a slideshow. We would like to invite you on a trip in the world of energy.

    Dear Steffi & Armin,
thanks for posting this cute little example of your practical training in Växjö. I suppose the music is a bit “cliché” but you are right it is the Swedish anthem for kids everywhere in the world!

I am glad that you could teach these little Swedish citizens something on energy and hope that your stay in Smaland in the PraTLA project helped you as well to get a different view on energy efficiency! Please let this blog share your bachelor/thesis work as well since it will be of major interest for EnercitEE.

    Best regards, Christian

It is nice to see little ones very inspired by energy! It makes me think of a project we have in France called “planet volunteer” where volunteer adults or students are trained on energy topics by prioriterre and then make interventions in primary schools! This is good to see that good ideas are shared all around europe!!
    all the best, AnneSophie

This information made me positively surprised. I am usually accustomed to hearing of these activities aimed at little older children (secondary schools). But we all know how eager and quick children are at grasping new things. Therefore it is extremely important that they learn “good things” as early as possible. And what can be better than learning how to be use our planet’s resources more efficiently?

This kindergarden in the middle of “Astrid Lindgren land” is working daily with the green flag and environmental issues. The visit was one of the highlights during the spring.

As beeing involved in the kindergarden and also mother to 2 of the kids, I can assure you that the visit from the trainees is a nice memory not only for the kids but also for the teachers. The kids still talk about it and a lot of the paintings and LEGO-constructions produced in my home are submarines, ships and other vehicles run by renewables. This inspiration is for sure a footprint from the visit.
